Red Chilies: Red chilies are commonest vegetable found in kitchens. They are also called capsicum. Red chilies occur in many colors, sizes and shapes ranging from white, yellow, green, elongated, round etc. red chilies are found in markets throughout the year.

They are available in raw form and in powder form as well but it is better to use chilies in original raw form because powder form has limited nutritional value and mixed with adulterated material and impurities to increase the quantity.

Red chilies are rich in vitamin C content, which is powerful antioxidant; research studies conducted on ingredients of red chilies indicate that they contain a substance, which has antibacterial, anti inflammatory, anti cancer and analgesic properties.

Red chilies are also rich in fiber, which is effective for constipation and lowering blood cholesterol. Vitamin C maintains the integrity and vitality of skin and other organs and prevents from aging. Remember that seeds of red chilies are very irritating to skin and digestive tract and can aggravate acidity, stomach ulcers and can cause diarrhea.

This can be prevented by neutralizing their effects by eating yogurt with them or their use should be in moderate amount or drinking water and milk after their use.
