Foods to increase intelligence: Our brain is made up of small structure called neurons and more then 50% of neurons or brain cell’s structure is lipids or fats. Brain requires continuous supply of energy in form of sugars and because brain has no system for storage of energy so it needs continuous supply of sugars all the time. This description clearly explains the type of foods, which increases the brain activity, and capacity that is i.e. lipids and sugars.

Several researches conducted on type of foods increasing brain’s cognitive power, memory and intelligence revealed that seafood   is one of the top foods required for brain health. This is because of the presence of essential unsaturated fatty acids present in fish meat and oil, prawns; Shrimps etc. in see food also called omega 3 fatty acids.  

These are precursors of many brain neurotransmitters and hormones. Zinc and magnesium are minerals, which also have great importance for neuronal function. Foods rich in theses minerals like  fruits  which include coconut, bananas, berries are useful for brain, dry fruits or nuts like walnuts and almonds are also rich in zinc content and should be included in daily diet in moderate amounts. Folic acid is a vitamin, which is present in abundance in green leafy vegetables and animal meat.

Folic acid is needed to make and repair DNA of cells and helps in enzymatic reactions at cellular levels. Pulses and lentils are also good source of complex sugars, which are needed for brain because these sugars readily breakdown into simple sugars in case of deprivation of oxygen supply of brain, and continuously supply energy for brain function.

Iron  an another mineral needed to carry oxygen to brain cells is very important and present in beef  and chicken liver in highest amounts and in many fruits and vegetables.
