Despite your very best intentions, you may be eating more, or differently, than you do the rest of the year. If you're dining at the home of friends or relatives, you may not be able to accurately estimate the amount of carbohydrate you're eating or know how the foods on the table will affect your blood sugar, so it's especially important to check your blood sugar regularly, especially after eating. Remember, general guidelines state that glucose levels should be between 4.0 and 7.0 mmol/L before meals and between 5.0 and 10 mmol/L two hours after a meal.
